A number of UMM units who sponsor Boy Scout and Cub Scout units are working toward earning The Bishop’s Award of Excellence, a UM award given to churches who actively support the spiritual life of their Scouting units. Vaughn Nichols, the AWFC UMM scouting coordinator, says that earning the Bishop’s Award ensures that a church is actively supporting its Scouting unit(s) and that the unit is a Christian organization dedicated to developing each Scout’s spiritual life.
Any UM church, which sponsors a Scouting unit, can earn the award by meeting seven requirements. The Bishop’s Award is fully explained by clicking here .
