John Croft, UMM President Mr. Croft updated the conference about the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and presented the conference, with the Board of Laity's blessing, a brief summary of the current relationship between the UMC and the Boy Scouts. The United Methodist Church is the second largest sponsor of Boy Scouts. He stated, "The AWF UMC Conference does not insist that every church start a BSA program nor does it insist that churches discontinue BSA programs. We urge individual churches to continue to partner with BSA to bring young men and women to Christ. In doing so we must follow the Scouting Program and the Youth Protection Program of Scouting and/or Safe Sanctuaries of the UMC."*
