Led by Bishop David L. Jonathan Holston, the Alabama - West Florida Annual Conference is dedicated to its mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. The conference steadfastly works toward a vision of thriving churches where disciple-making ministries are brought to life. The conference identifies four specific areas in which that vision is turned into reality. These priorities are:
-Through New Ministry Strategy Cultivators, we will identify, equip, and cultivate new congregations and new ministry in existing churches to reach their communities.
-The Board of Discipleship and Connectional Ministries will empower congregations to grow by starting Disciple Bible Studies, developing discipleship pathways, and practicing spiritual disciplines.
-The initiative will identity the needs of our clergy, while striving to make current resources readily available for them. New tools will be created to foster both healthy clergy and healthy congregations.
-Recognizing the gifts of all of our clergy, the AWF Cabinet will identify, train, and support congregations to receive clergy of color and female clergy as their Senior Pastor.
The Alabama – West Florida Conference has 500 active and retired pastors serving an estimated 300 churches.
The Alabama – West Florida Conference is divided into four districts. Those districts are:
Panhandle District
Rev. Jean Tippit, Superintendent
Southeast District
