Wolfe - Asbury

Rev. Asbury F. Wolfe, Jr. (retired) 88 of Orangeburg, SC died Saturday, September 19, 2015.

The Reverend Asbury Franklin Wolfe, Jr. was born in Neeses, SC on January 25, 1927. He served his country as an infantry soldier and aviator for 21 years. He flew in Berlin Airlift, was a military policeman during the Nuremberg Trials. His last duty assignment was Vietnam. After retiring from the U.S. Army, Asbury completed his ministry studies and became an elder in the United Methodist Church serving churches for 24 years. He was a beloved United Methodist Church minister. During his retirement he continued serving the Lord by founding Christian Ministry, Christian based ministry in Honduras.

He was married to Thelma Melrose (Mellie) Williamson for 52 years. They had five children Paul, Frank, Elizabeth, Angela and John. After the death of Thelma, Asbury married Dene Sanford of Orangeburg. They enjoyed 14 years of marriage.

He is survived by Dene; her son, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery North SC with Rev. Jim Parnell officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Culler McAlhany Funeral Home North, SC. (www.mcalhanyfuneralhome.com)
