Reverend Oliver H. Scott, Jr, “Butterscotch” (retired) 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 3, 2016 surrounded by family in Naples.
Born on August 26, 1931 in Enterprise, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Reverend Oliver H Scott Sr. and Waldine Hale Scott.
Oliver first served at various churches in the Mississippi Conference and then in the Alabama-West Florida Conference where he retired. He also joined churches on mission trips to Czech Republic and Angola. Oliver interrupted his ministerial career to complete his theological education at Emory University School of Theology.
Oliver was preceded in death by his two older sisters, Lucy and Onie. He is survived by his four children, Jane Page of Naples, Oliver III of Tucson AZ, Ann Gallagher of Orlando FL, and Randolph of Spanish Fort AL, four grandchildren, Kevin, Amanda, Leah, and Wesley, and ten great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at North Naples Church (6000 Goodlette-Frank Rd, Naples FL 34109), on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 12:30 PM.
