Joseph Thomas Mullen IV, 67, of Pensacola, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, October 19, 2016.

Joseph was born February 23, 1949 in Alexandria, Virginia. He grew up in Alexandria and finished high school while living at Boys' Home in Covington, VA. Upon graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and went to Vietnam where he was embedded as a corpsman with a marine platoon. During his time there, he saw significant combat action for which he was awarded a number of medals, including two Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars and a Silver Star. After returning, he continued his medical training through the military, becoming a Physician Assistant and eventually attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer before retiring with a medical discharge due to complications from his time in Vietnam. Joseph then worked for the federal prison system in Alderson, WV and then Pensacola, FL as a PA for 20 years before retiring in 2000. Joseph was a local Methodist pastor who began Pensacola United Methodist Community Ministries at Richard's Memorial United Methodist Church in the Brownsville area of Pensacola, providing food, education, and basic healthcare services to the homeless and veterans in the area. Joseph was an avid golfer, a lifelong fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Washington Redskins, a military history enthusiast, and an antique collector/dealer. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Joe Ewansky; brother, Michael Moore; and eldest daughter, Sallie Moody.

He is survived by his wife, Beckie Mullen; sisters, Joy Belanger and Melanie Moore; children, Andy Mullen, Sarah Rich, Daniel Mullen, Lisa Floda and RoniLee Henderson. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held October 28, 2016 at Richard's Memorial United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
