Kathryn Burnett Gatewood died on December 5, 2016. She was born on April 9, 1924 in Atlanta, GA. After graduating from Girl's High School in Atlanta, she attended Agnes Scott College where she received a BA degree in chemistry. Kathryn taught elementary school for many years after which she returned to school at Emory University where she received an MA degree in divinity. She served as a minister in the United Methodist Church in the Alabama-West Florida Conference for nine years. She also served as the president of the Women's Club of Milton, Florida. Kathryn was a world traveler who had taken trips to Europe, China and the UK as well as a world cruise. She was an accomplished pianist and a dedicated bridge player. She was very active in the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and always loved worshipping with friends and family at Mae Edwards Memorial United Methodist Church.

Kathryn is preceded in death by: her parents, Floress Tinsley Burnett and James Peyton Burnett; her ex-husband, Allen Gatewood, Jr.; and a sister, Odiel McCloud. She is survived by: a sister, Dorothy Johnson; three children, Toni Platt (John), Karen Campbell (Vic) and James Gatewood (Sandy); four grandchildren: Tamara Platt, Chris Gatewood, Jason Gatewood and Alex Campbell; and four great grandchildren.
