deJarnette - John Thomas (Jack)

1/19/2015

Rev. John Thomas (jack) deJarnette, Jr. - 2/21/1943 - 1/19/2015

Rev. Jack deJarnette finally shed his earth-suit and is with the Great Healer in his now perfect body. Jack was a man of honor, a Texan by birth, and a man of God by heart. He always said "he did the best he could with what he had" and God made up the difference.

Jack lived a transparent life demonstrating God's transformative powers in his broken vessel. In his previous profession Jack was a respiratory therapist. He liked to say he spent the first half of his career helping save lives and the second half helping save souls. He much preferred the second half.

As a United Methodist minister, he served the Byrneville/Barrineau Park Charge, Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, and was the founding pastor of Perdido Bay United Methodist Church, where he served for twenty years.

A service to celebrate his life was held for him at the Perdido Bay UMC Community Center on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 10:30am, with reception immediately following.
