Rev. Larry Dean Bennett, Sr., 75, of Pittsview, AL, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 28, 2014, at his home.

Funeral services were held on December 30, 2014, at Hatchechubbee United Methodist Church, with Reverend George Mathison officiating. Interment was at Hatchechubbee United Methodist Church Cemetery, and the family received friends an hour before the service.

Rev. Bennett was born on September 23, 1939, in Covington County, AL, the son of the late Joel Garland Bennett and Mary Eunice Bennett. He was a member of and minister in the United Methodist Church for over 57 years. He was the State of Alabama Prison Commissioner for several years and was a huge Auburn fan.

Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Glenda Wiggins and Helen Rose Bennett, and brother, Charles Bennett.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Bennett; 3 children, Pamela Jarrell, husband Jesse, Larry Bennett, Jr., and Catherine Lipscomb, husband Cory; sister, Jean Ham, husband Carl; grandchildren, Mallory Grooms, husband Tyler, Dylan Lipscomb, and Jacob Bennett; great grandchild, Baylor Grooms; extended family and many caring friends.
