Part-time hourly, non-exempt position with up to 25 hours/week Reports to: Church Administrator Main Function The primary responsibility of the Recreation Coordinator is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. The coordinator will lead the Recreation Ministry in offering opportunities for people to connect with God through mind, body, and soul. As a committed follower of Jesus Christ and spiritual leader, the coordinator will lead people to glorify God and strengthen their faith. Using his/her spiritual gifts, education, and experiences the Recreation Coordinator will shepherd those involved in recreation ministry and lead in creative ways that encourage the church to grow beyond its existing ministries. Qualifications • Maintains a lifestyle that reflects a commitment to and a passion for Jesus Christ • Possesses a high school diploma or GED • Preferred experience working with physical education, organized leagues, recreation, or health/wellness programs • Experienced in organizing and running recreational programs, along with leading and supervising volunteers • Demonstrates ability to work independently as well as with a team • Displays self-motivation and flexibility • Possesses strong organizational skills and the ability to work well with timelines and deadlines • Shows strong attention to detail and accuracy • Is proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.) • Familiarity with social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook and Instagram • Successful background and drug screening Principal Duties: • Develop and oversee all programs and ministries of the Recreation Ministry • Hire, train, supervise, and provide oversight for Recreation Staff • Recruit, train, and support volunteers • Oversee daily administration and operation of the Christian Life Center • Work in conjunction with the Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance of the Christian Life Center. • Maintain and grow the recreational ministry to provide new activities and opportunities and the highest level of excellence for participants • Facilitate and coordinate the maintenance, care, repair, and storage of equipment, supplies, inventory, and resources while maintaining proper records for the CLC and related recreational activities, programs, and events • Assist in membership process, positively interact with members encouraging them to participate in activities, and hold members accountable to behavior expectations and yearly dues • Plan, submit, and oversee budget for Recreation Ministry as well as all other financial aspects of the ministry to ensure that everything is done in accordance with the guidelines. • Maintain and uphold all compliance and safety regulations, training, and standards for the Recreation Ministry • Strategize ways to engage with the community to involve more participation in Recreation Ministry • Collaborate with and build relationships with other FUMC ministry areas to foster a healthy engagement between Recreation and other ministries • Schedule and oversee ministry opportunities to include but not limited to summer sports camps, church league basketball, exercise classes, etc. • Participate in ongoing & scheduled meetings as well as professional growth and development • Maintain a flexible work schedule according to the seasonal hours needed to support the Recreation Ministry. While a typical work week is intentionally flexible to allow for the needs of the ministry and the church, maintaining consistent “operating hours” in the Christian Life Center is a must unless otherwise approved. • Be available to staff and church members by maintaining regular office hours and returning phone calls, texts, & emails • Carry out all other opportunities assigned by the Senior Pastor, Clergy, or Church Administrator
