Job Type: Full-time, salaried position The Executive Director of the Harbor will serve as the chief administrator, providing leadership and implementing policies and programs to carry out the mission of the Harbor. The ED shall be a staff member of First United Methodist Church of Dothan, AL, with direct supervision by the Senior Pastor. This person will adhere to and uphold the staff handbook of FUMC. He/She will also relate directly with the ecumenical Board of Directors of the Harbor and oversee the strategic and operational responsibilities of the staff, volunteers, donor development, community partnerships, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission, “Transforming the Heart of Dothan, through the Transforming Power and Love of Jesus Christ.” All ministries shall be pointing to achieve this mission. Qualifications: • Continually demonstrate a genuine and dynamic walk with Christ. • Continually demonstrate a passion to minister to the marginalized, at-risk, homeless, and transient populations in the Dothan community. • Having experienced God’s calling specifically to mission and ministry with a marginalized, homeless, and at-risk population. • Demonstrate an ability to work well with volunteers from various Christian denominational traditions. • Demonstrate an ability to relate to a broad range of churches, community organizations, and other partners to recruit volunteers and fund the ministry. • Demonstrate an administrative ability to carry out the day-to-day operations of The Harbor. • Experience effectively researching and identifying funding sources. Successful grant writing and donor solicitation experience as well as experience in non-profit budgeting and financial reporting. • Demonstrate an ability to communicate well in a variety of settings, including both written and public speaking engagements. • Demonstrate an ability to develop, implement, administer, and evaluate programs in a non-profit, church, or similar environment. • Bachelor’s degree required. Duties & Responsibilities: • The ability to understand, articulate, facilitate, implement, and lead out of the Harbor Vision and Core Values, in a fast-paced, need-based, and continual life crisis environment. • General Liability Oversight and Policy and Procedure Knowledge of missions minded Homeless, Marginalized, At-Risk, and Less Fortunate Ministry. • Executive oversight of all the ministry, volunteers, programs, and mission of The Harbor. • Executive oversight in the education of the community of the mission and vision of the Harbor. • Executive oversight of the development efforts to increase community support through financial, legacy, and in-kind gifts. Meet with community members as appropriate to develop and maintain relationships and support. • Collaborate with community partners to develop and implement strategic plans and programs to address and resolve issues affecting those whom the Harbor serves. • Public Speaking and community involvement to cast vision of The Harbor, develop relationships with a broad range of churches and community organizations both financially, prayerfully, and in service, to recruit and equip volunteers and to carry out the programs/ministries of The Harbor. • Executive oversight of The Harbor Life Transitional Ministry, both community-based and in partnership with the ARK Dothan. • Executive oversight of The Harbor One-On-One Mentorship and Discipleship based ministry. • Executive and Program oversight of the training of the mentors/spiritual coaches for the Harbor Discipleship program. • Executive oversight of the Harbor Street Ministry, Harbor Street services, evangelism, worship services, community days, small and large events, children’s programming, volunteer engagement, and training. • Executive and Program oversite of all short-term and long-term mission trips to the Harbor. • Executive oversight of the Harbor Lighthouses (Mobile Based Provision Units) and the leadership co-programmatic development of the Harbor Life and Harbor Mentor Program to staff and minister within the Lighthouses. • Executive oversight of Grow Hope Farms at The Harbor. • Executive oversight of the Harbor Case Management. • Executive oversight of Harbor worship services, Bible studies, Growth Groups, discipleship, and be the primary lead for the teaching ministry of The Harbor. • Ability to execute the Harbor Board’s vision for the current and future building needs of The Harbor. • Co-Coordinate the day-to-day ministry. • Teaming to administer the budget of The Harbor. • Coordinate the use of the facility and its maintenance. This includes vehicles. • Assure funds are handled as prescribed by financial policies. • Supervise staff members and volunteers. • Relate to other community organizations. • Communicate and market the mission and ministry of the Harbor to the community. • Facilitate and manage the preaching and teaching schedule for worship services, bible studies, and spiritual growth. • Meet in weekly staff meetings with the Harbor Staff and lead volunteers to prayerfully discern vision and formulate goals and objectives. • Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings of First United Methodist Church, maintaining and nurturing the vital connectedness of the Harbor to FUMC. • Report and Lead Harbor Board Meetings monthly and all ministry related to The Harbor Bord of Directors. Facilitate Board development and Board member involvement. • Oversee and participate in the development and administration of the Harbor’s budget. • Perform duties as assigned by the Harbor Board and or the Senior Pastor of FUMC.
