We Remember: Bishop Charles "Handy" Hancock

Bishop C. W. "Handy" Hancock, 91, of Macon, GA, died Friday, March 13, 2015. Services will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at 5:00pm at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, Macon, Georgia. The Reverend Mike McAfee, Bishop James King, the Reverend Tommy Mason, and Dr. Marcus Tripp will officiate. Burial will be private. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 4:00-6:00pm at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, and on Thursday from 4:00-5:00pm in the parlor at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Methodist Home for Children and Youth, 304 Pierce Avenue, Macon, GA, 31204 or to Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, 719 Mulberry Street, Macon, GA, 31201.

Bishop Hancock was predeceased by his wife, Mariam Crawford Hancock, and his son, David Charles Hancock. He is survived by his children, Stephen Hancock (Janet) of Kemp, Texas, Susan Robinson (John) of Conyers, Georgia and Laura Osiecki (Paul) of Coppell, Texas; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Hancock McDonald (Mike); eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. 

Bishop Hancock served as the first resident bishop of the Alabama-West Florida Conference from 1988-1992.
