Take Time to Listen

January 30, 2024

(Rev. Dan Baughman for AWFUMC New Ministry Strategies) -

“Forget about what’s happened;
don’t keep going over old history.
Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new.

It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it?”—Isaiah 43:18-19, The Message We want to be a part of the brand-new things God is doing. This requires being alert and aware and present. It means listening to God. Are you taking the time to listen? We invite you to make some space this Lent season to listen to God and begin to see the new things the Spirit wants to do in and through you. Your local new ministry cultivator would love to be a resource in helping you with this. To set up a meeting, please contact Pastor Dan by completing this form.

In our previous listening sessions, congregations have shared their history, their struggles, their hopes, and some ideas for how to make an impact on their community. Sometimes God is calling us to reclaim our original identity and community. Sometimes God is calling us to a new identity and community. We believe that in listening and sharing with one another, we begin to get an idea of the “brand-new” that God is about to do. Please also visit thelisteningchurch.com for more resources and ideas and a structured plan for being alert, aware, and present to what God wants to do in your community. God is about to do something brand-new. Do you see it? We would love to help you listen.
