Bishop Announces New Staff Appointment

March 18, 2024

Bishop David Graves, resident bishop of the Alabama-West Florida Conference, is pleased to announce that Dr. Jeff Wilson, current Southeast district superintendent and dean of the cabinet, will serve as the assistant to the bishop and director of ministerial services. Rev. Jenni Hendrix, current director of ministerial services, will receive an appointment into the local church.

Rev. Ashley Davis, current assistant to the bishop and director of connectional ministries, will also continue in that role. Rev. Davis’ role in the assistant position will focus on programming and Dr. Jeff Wilson will focus on administrative duties. Both will remain on the cabinet with Rev. Davis serving as cabinet secretary and Dr. Wilson continuing his service as dean of the cabinet.

Rev. Robin Wilson, current director of healthy clergy and congregations, has been appointed to serve as the executive director of stakeholder relations at Discipleship Ministries, a general agency of the United Methodist Church. The duties and responsibilities of the office of healthy clergy and congregations will shift to the board of ordained ministry with oversight provided by Dr. Jeff Wilson.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to continue working with Jeff,” stated Bishop Graves. “Jeff and Ashley are two of the most capable clergy persons in our conference and will continue to provide outstanding leadership. This new assistant to the bishop model will allow them to best use their gifts to resource our local churches, Episcopal office and board of ordained ministry. I am most grateful to Jenni for her dedication to the office of ministerial services. Her organizational skills and attention to detail have been a gift to our conference office. I congratulate Robin on her new general church appointment and am excited to see her lead at the denominational level. She launched a clergy health program that aligned with our priorities and was beneficial to many over the past few months. Both Jenni and Robin will be tremendous assets to their new appointments.”

Two new district superintendents and part-time staff positions were announced in a previous release on February 12, 2024.

The cabinet has concluded its initial appointment-making process. Calls are in progress to those clergy who will receive a new appointment and introductory sessions with local churches are being scheduled. All appointments are effective July 1, 2024, and will be published at the conclusion of annual conference.
