2022 Annual Conference Pre-conference Information

The Alabama-West Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church will hold its 2022 Annual Conference session Sunday, June 12-Wednesday, June 15 at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome on the campus of Alabama State University in Montgomery, AL. If you are a clergy or lay voting member, it is critical that you read the important information below

We invite all clergy and lay members to conference to join in the 12 days of prayer leading up to the event. Click here to see the daily prayers and video from Bishop Graves.

If you have not registered, please do so today. Click here for registrationAll are welcome to Sunday's opening worship service. You do not have to register if you are only attending this service. If you do plan on attending any parts of conference from Monday-Wednesday, you must register online.

Also, please note that there is a scheduled Tuesday evening session for conference business and there is the potential to meet Wednesday afternoon.

This year’s theme is, “In this Season” from Ecclesiastes 3:1 with each day having a specific focus and giving recipient.
-Sunday, June 12: In this season of learning. Offering will go towards cohorts and Ministerial Education Fund.
Monday, June 13: In this season of reflection. Offering will go towards restoration in the Boy Scouts of America settlement and the Wesley Foundations at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) in our conference: Tuskegee University Wesley Foundation and Alabama State University Wesley Foundation.
Tuesday, June 14: In this season of hope. Offering will go towards AWF New Church Starts.
Wednesday, June 15: In this season of courage. Offering will go towards clergy health.

There are several reports to be presented at annual conference that are not in the Book of Reports. Members of the annual conference will vote on these items. Please review these prior to our time together. 

  • Rev. Allison Posell, chair of AWF Board of Pension and Health, issued a letter on Monday, May 16, 2022, regarding proposed changes to active and retiree health benefits. In this letter she explains the reasoning and provides several resources. If you are a clergy or lay voting member to annual conference, please carefully review this critical information. Click here for more. Questions may be sent to belinda@awfumc.org.
  • The AWF Conference Board of Trustees has released the local church disaffiliation reports that will be voted upon at conference. Click here to read. As a reminder, disaffiliations will be voted upon one at the time by a simple yes/no vote and are not amendable based on Judicial Council's ruling #1420. Questions may be sent to suzanne@awfumc.org.

As part of the main annual conference registration you may sign up for the biometric health screening on June 13 or Jun 14. Please register ahead of time to be able to select a preferred time. As of now, Alabama State University has a mask mandate on campus. Please bring your own mask. Snacks will not be available this year. Please bring your own pre-packaged snacks if you need. Weapons of any kind (gun, knives, etc) are not allowed on the campus of Alabama State University. Please leave them at home. We invite you to bring your own portable phone charger. There will be charging stations but if you have a portable device, we encourage you to bring that with you. Additional entrances to campus will be open. Please use the Harris Way or Carter Hill entrance. Click here to see the venue layout for Monday-Wednesday. There will be no assigned seating on Sunday for opening worship. 

All are welcome to a Celebrate UMC event on Monday, June 13, 2022. The event will be held on the campus of Huntingdon College beginning at 5pm. The event will conclude before the ordination service. Rev. Tom Berlin will be the guest speaker and will provide accurate and up-to-date information related to the United Methodist Church. Click here for more

Although we attempted to arrange childcare on the campus of Alabama State University and nearby facilities, that was not possible. We are sorry for this inconvenience. The nursery for the ordination and commissioning service at FUMC Montgomery will be available beginning at 4:30pm.
