Conference Celebrates Faithful Missional Giving in 2021

March 09, 2022

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering; for he who promised is faithful.
-Hebrews 10:23

As we approach two full years into the global pandemic, we pause to give thanks to the churches in the Alabama-West Florida Conference who faithfully supported mission and ministry through their apportionment giving. We celebrate our year-end figure of 83.94% as it demonstrates that even through unprecedented times, our United Methodist connectional system is vital.

“Each day I give thanks to God for the churches in this conference,” stated Bishop David Graves. “We had great hope that this pandemic would end in 2020 yet we persevered through variants and case spikes. Combine that with denominational uncertainty and the political divide, there are many reasons that our conference could have used to redirect critical missional dollars. However, our churches chose to show that living in covenant with one another is a priority to them. I celebrate the collective work we’ve accomplished with a reduced budget and less staff. With God’s faithfulness, your dedication, and prayers of hope we will learn valuable lessons about adaptive leadership to continue the work of the Alabama-West Florida Conference. As 2022 progresses, your continued faithfulness is vital to our work in the conference. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

369 churches fulfilled 100% of their missional apportionment giving
393 churches fulfilled 75% or more of their missional giving
106 churches increased their giving from 2020

“As the treasurer of the Alabama-West Florida Conference, I saw first-hand each month how our churches value this United Methodist connection and our shared ministry,” said Suzanne Krejcar. “Our staff and conference boards and agencies have been mindful of every dollar spent and requested for future budgets. It is our promise to you that your faithful giving will be honored and appreciated.”
