Your Help is Needed: Storm Damage at Blue Lake Camp

April 27, 2021

This past Saturday, April 23, 2021, Blue Lake was hit by a severe wind storm.

As you can see in the photo above, the camp has suffered significant damage from trees falling on the Oakwood Lodge roof. In addition to the trees on the roof, the wind brought down over 20 trees across property. Just as they were getting back on their feet, eagerly preparing for a busy summer, they were set back by this storm.

The Alabama-West Florida Conference's Disaster Relief Ministry has already responded and was on site helping to clean up with tractors, chainsaws, and able hands. But they need you to join us in this effort.

Blue Lake needs your financial support to meet their deductible of $72,000

There are two good things about this:

First, the two sections of roof that have damage are both older shingled roofs that we were already needing to be replaced in the next few years. This event may be the perfect opportunity to invest in the already necessary upgrades.

Second, just this month, the Blue Lake board of trustees changed their insurance plan that significantly lowered the deductible.

Please hear their urgent cry and help them cover this deductible and repair the beloved Oakwood Lodge.
