Mobile District Lay Servant Ministries will conduct training in Lay Speaking Ministries Basic Course and in From Your Heart to Theirs, an advanced course in preaching. Classes will be conducted in two Saturday sessions. Half of the course will be taught October 18 and the remaining half on October 25 at Christ United Methodist Church (Mobile, AL).

 

To help accommodate those who may be driving from a distance more than 30 minutes away, the course schedule is 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on October 18 and 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on October 25. This will allow participants to avoid night or pre-dawn driving and will make session times more balanced.

 

For these sessions, participants are urged to purchase their books as soon as possible and have them delivered to their homes. Books range from $5 to $10 and can be ordered on line. The texts are also available in E-Book format for Kindle at Amazon. There are five copies of  From Your Heart to Theirs and three Lay Speaking Ministries Basic Course books available for those who want can pick them up at the Mobile District Office located at 6333 Piccadilly Square Drive, Mobile, AL 36609. In order to maintain an expeditious schedule, participants are asked to bring a lunch or be prepared to eat at one of the restaurants or cafes in the immediate area. We will have refreshments during breaks. If you decide not to bring your lunch, click HERE for places to eat near the church.

 

The Rev. Vann Bush of New Hope UMC will be teaching the preaching course, and John Sellers will be teaching the basic course.
