This state line to state line cycle event, in conjunction with Alabama Rural Ministries (ARM) will be held May 2 - 4, 2014 to benefit families struggling with poverty.

What is Cycle of Service? It is an intense, fun 3 day bike ride across the state to raise awareness about poverty housing in Alabama. The funds provide home repair assistance to families in Lee, Macon, and Sumter counties.

Is this important? In counties such as Macon and Sumter, over 35% of the population struggles with poverty.

What does that mean for someone’s home? It means a leaking roof when it rains, an unsafe floor from dry rot, or maybe the need for a wheel chair ramp. With a limited income these problems get grow. Cycling with us helps us repair homes for these families and extend the love of Christ to them! You can be a part of the solution to ending the cycle of poverty in Alabama! Come join this fun team and cycle with us!

So what will we do? On Friday May 2, riders biking across the state will meet at Auburn United Methodist Church where we will launch our ride and the complete on Sunday May 5 in Cuba, AL.

There are three main leg options:

May 2 - Leg 1: Auburn, AL to GA State line and end in Tuskegee, AL.

May 3 - Leg 2: Tuskegee, AL to Selma, AL- “Freedom Riders Century”

May 4 - Leg 3: Selma, AL to Cuba, AL/MS. State line

Saturday May 3- Freedom Riders Century - Although the reverse direction from the actual Freedom Riders, this century ride begins in historic Tuskegee, AL, passes through Montgomery, AL and ends in Selma-the historic city where the Civil Rights march to Montgomery began. Riders will ride over the Edmund Petus Bridge in Selma.  Registration for this ride is $65 and gaining sponsors is optional.

Virtual Rider - Can’t ride with us but still want to help just fill out the second page of the registration (see below attached file).  How it works?  Option 1: Log in miles around your home, gain pledges, and send in!  Option 2: If you do not ride at all, consider sponsoring a fundraiser on our behalf-a pancake breakfast, bake sale, or car wash-just send in and designate to Cycle of Service!

The registration is simple and easy. Download the form below, fill out, and send in with your registration of $65 (or $15 for the virtual rider). There is an information packet with everything you need.
