On Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 7:00 pm, The Sandspur Band will present a benefit concert of bluegrass gospel music for the Gulf Shores United Methodist Church’s Servant Ministries program. The Servant Ministries program provides financial aid and spiritual support to many disadvantaged people in the community. The concert will be presented in the church’s auditorium on the south campus (located in the Winn Dixie Shopping Center).  Tickets are $10.00 per person and can be purchased at the church office or at the door prior to the concert.

The Sandspur Band is a nurturing ministry of Gulf Shores United Methodist Church. The band takes gospel music into the homes of shut-ins as well as nursing homes and assisted living facilities. They began in 2002 with two musicians; however, have grown to its current membership of six: Mel Middlebrooks (guitar), Clarence Bauer (banjolele), George Hasenbein (autoharp), Susie Hewitt (vocals), Larry Davis (harmonica), and Tommy Salter (bass).

Join The Sandspur Band on March 8th, support the Servant Ministries program at GSUMC, and enjoy an evening of toe-tapping bluegrass gospel music. The public is always welcome at GSUMC events.
