You are invited to share in Christ United Methodist Church’s Slum Experience.  We wanted to share with you some information about an exciting experience we are having in a couple of weeks.  It is called the slum experience.  Over 1.8 Billion people in the world live in urban slums with little food, overcrowding, and limited sanitation.  As part of our mission emphasis in August, we are going to spend some time experiencing life as one of those 25% of the world's population.

What does that mean?  On August 25 - 26 we are going to live in a slum we have constructed on our church campus and experience what that life is like.  Students will arrive Saturday at noon and will "move in" to the mock slum that will already be inhabited by some young adult actors.  After the experience ends, we will debrief, sleep in the slums and conclude with a worship experience the following morning.  Students will be able to be picked up by 10:30 on Sunday Morning.

Though all are welcome, the youngest in your youth group may have a difficult time processing some of these issues.  Please use your judgment in deciding whether or not to register them for the slums.
