September is National Hunger Action Month

September is National Hunger Action Month.  Around the world, almost one-billion people don't have enough food to eat.  Even in the United States, more than 40-million people go hungry.

Despite the abundance of food in the world, hunger plagues large populations, and starvation awaits those who hunger without relief.

September is a good time for your church to consider the reality of hunger in our world, and to study and pray for solutions.

The Society of St. Andrew, the nation's premier food rescue and distribution ministry, has materials available online to help with your worship and study preparation.

A special Society of St. Andrew Web page includes:
• National Hunger Month information
• a prayer calendar
• prayers
• bulletin inserts
• scripture references
• sample sermons
• a Bible study
• links to U.S. and world hunger facts
