General Commission of Christian Unity and Interreligious Concerns

The General Commission of Christian Unity and Interreligious Concerns advocates for the ecumenical relationships with other faith communities; seeking to help United Methodists to realize the church’s ecumenical commitment – to understand their membership in the one church of Jesus Christ; seeking to discern and advocate God’s plan for the unity of the human community; developing training for ecumenical leadership among United Methodists; and interpreting United Methodist ties with national and international interreligious organizations. As much as we treasure the privilege of being a United Methodist, we understand that the Christian family includes many other traditions. Remembering Jesus’ prayer that we all be “one,” we support the General Commission of Christian Unity and Interreligious Concerns in its efforts to strengthen United Methodists’ relationships with other faith communities.
