7/29/2014 - Church Administrator - Perdido Bay UMC

Perdido Bay United Methodist Church is seeking a Church Administrator.  This individual will be responsible for assisting in the planning and development of the Perdido Bay United Methodist Church and Community Center operating budget, programming, human resource management, administrative support, marketing, and overall physical plant operations, while building project objectives, and driving structure among the team.  The incumbent will deliver solutions while leading team members to drive growth and strengthen the mission of the Community Center by creating a new and expanded business plan with improved fiscal outcomes for the church. 

Desired Outcomes:

  • Provide respective program leadership and recommendations to the Church’s senior leadership, lay leadership and staff.
  • Provide senior staff support, recommendations and report insights to the following committees:  Finance, Endowment, Stewardship, Staff Parrish Relations, Trustees, Church Council and other subcommittees and organizations as required.
  • Oversee writing, submission and management of grant proposals and other requests for funding from outside agencies and groups.
  • Ensure the church staff and volunteers work in a safe, secure and positive environment.
  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of a successful business plan for the Community Center that advances the Church’s mission of community outreach while increasing cash flow and reducing and eventually eliminating the negative fiscal impact of the Community Center on the Church’s operating budget 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend church committee meetings as required providing program status reports and updates.
  • Respond to other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Associate Pastor or Senior Pastor.
  • Serve on community councils and committees and attend community functions.

7/23/2014 - Children's Ministry Director Position - Tuscumbia, AL

First United Methodist Church, Tuscumbia, AL (TFUMC) is a Christ-centered congregation that is seeking a full-time Children’s Ministry Director. The Children’s Ministry Director will develop, implement and lead a dynamic children’s ministry program, calendar of activities and special events which are designed to include all aspects of spiritual growth from birth through sixth grade.

TFUMC has a membership of over 900 and an average weekend attendance of 410.

The successful candidate will be a strong, adaptable leader and will understand the importance of being a team player. This person will make the spiritual growth of children and the best interest of the church top priorities.

Mary Ellen’s Hearth at Nellie Burge Community Center is hiring a part-time employee to be a residential advisor to the homeless women and their children that live at the center.  The person in this position will work some evenings and some holidays.  Residential advisors are responsible for monitoring the facility and responding to the needs to the women and children that live at the center.

6/20/2014 - Director of Youth Ministries - St. Luke UMC (Pensacola, FL)

St. Luke United Methodist Church in Pensacola is seeking a full-time Director of Youth Ministries.  Below are qualifications and responsibilities with the position.   

Qualifications/Work:
Individual must be of good moral character, trustworthy in all respects and able to relate positively with people.  The Director of Youth Ministries should have a degree in a field related to youth and/or education or at least three (3) years experience running a successful youth ministry.  The Director of Youth Ministries shall have good administrative skills and the ability to communicate and relate well with youth, parents, and other staff members.  The Director of Youth Ministries must also be able to coordinate volunteer services.  The Director of Youth Ministries is to develop a balanced youth program for youth entering 6th grade through high school senior.  The program should be comprised of meaningful learning opportunities and activities that will enable the youth to develop in the Christian faith and promote Christian fellowship.

The Director of Youth Ministries shall seek to respond to the young person as a whole.  He/She shall provide a ministry that is filled with acceptance, understanding, and affirmation in an atmosphere of belonging.

Responsibilities:

  1. The Director of Youth Ministries shall be responsible for designing programs and activities that will enhance the spiritual development of the youth.  This will include prayer groups, Bible studies, retreats, youth weeks, Wednesday evening, Sunday morning, and evening programs, etc.  The Director of Youth Ministries is responsible for  the implementation and the coordination of the tasks and personnel required for these programs and activities.
  2. Maintain close communication with the Senior Minister regarding all aspects of the youth ministry.
  3. Develop programs for UMYF and Wednesday evening.  Recruit volunteers and obtain necessary materials to implement said programs.
  4. Offer service opportunities throughout the year to involve young adults in missions, community service, work camping experiences, VBS, etc.
  5. Contact new members and visitors with youth to inform them of the programs and ministries we have to offer youth and to give them an opportunity to ask questions and/or voice concerns.
  6. Meet with parents of youth as needed (at least quarterly) to ensure communication and cooperation of adults/parents in youth programs.
  7. Seek to promote and maintain cooperation between the youth ministry and the total ministry of the church.
  8. Recruit, train, encourage, and support adults in various volunteer ministries of working with youth in our congregation such as chaperons, resource persons, etc.
  9. Attend and encourage the youth to attend Sunday morning worship service(s).
  10. Attend worship services when not conducting youth programs/services.
  11. Attend and encourage the youth to participate in the church-wide programs of the church.
  12. Plan an annual Youth Sunday each year.
  13. Present updated reports on youth ministry at Administrative Board meetings.
  14. Provide timely articles for the Sunday bulletin and church newsletter.
  15. Prepare annual budget for submission to the Finance Committee and operate youth program within the amount of budget authorized.
  16. Visit young people and parents in special needs situations such as hospitalization, crisis intervention, death and other situation in which teenagers may need support and assistance.
  17. Work alongside and with the Sunday School Superintendent.  Assist in recruiting and supporting youth Sunday school teachers.
  18. Provide assistance to the Senior Pastor as may be called upon from time to time to provide assistance as it pertains to youth programs.
  19. Conduct a yearly confirmation class.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Minister.
  21. Submit for vacation and other time off as required by established policy.

Job Summary

The Scholarship Home Manager works closely with the Regional Director to ensure that a wide range of services related to the academic progress, personal growth and development of students are properly provided.  The Scholarship Home Manager is responsible for the oversight and delivery of care and services provided to students that maintain the best possible physical, emotional, social, spiritual and educational outcomes.  This person is responsible for ensuring that contract specifications and Department of Human Resources (DHR) Minimum Standards are consistently met. 

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required. Preferred areas of study include, but are not limited to:  Social Work, Psychology, Counseling and Education.  Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Education Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy from an accredited college or university preferred.  Alabama Social Work licensure (LBSW, LGSW, or LCSW) or Alabama Counseling Licensure (LPC) or Marriage and Family Therapy Licensure (LMFT) or Alabama Psychology licensure preferred.  Three (3) years paid experience working in a therapeutic environment and one (1) year of supervisory experience required.  Previous experience working with families and adolescents or previous experience working in a residence hall/housing facility at a college or university preferred.  Previous paid experience working as an academic advisor or position responsible for the academic oversight of students preferred. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.   Valid driver’s license issued from state of residence, reliable transportation and proof of automobile insurance required. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, using the English language and ability to work as a team player required.

6/12/2014 - Full-Time Director of Childrens Ministries - Canterbury UMC (Birmingham, AL)

Canterbury United Methodist Church (Birmingham, Alabama), is seeking a full-time Director of Children’s Ministries to join their children’s ministry team. The position will provide innovative, executive leadership over the development and implementation of all aspects of children’s ministry programming, serving children from birth through sixth grade, as well as their families.

The main responsibilities are:

  • Provide Leadership: The DCM will oversee all children's ministry programming, and supervise the children's ministry staff
