8/5/2014 - Director of Congregational Care and Education - Porterfield Memorial UMC (Albany, GA)

Porterfield United Methodist Church (Albany, GA), a 2800 member congregation in the South Georgia Annual Conference, seeks a dynamic, experienced leader to develop, equip, and direct the areas of Congregational Care and Education.  

Congregational Care: This person will work with Porterfield’s ministry team in the development and implementation of a new model for Congregational Care. Following successful implementation, the individual will be responsible for managing Porterfield’s Congregational Care ministry. Responsibilities include developing a training guide, as well as recruiting, training, and equipping laity to serve as Congregational Care Ministers. This position would also include leading the laity in Disciple Bible Study and/or Alpha as a part of the requirements to be a Congregational Care leader. The Director of Congregational Care and Education will also be responsible for managing the documentation necessary for an effective Congregational Care ministry and providing periodic reports on the progress and success of the Congregational Care ministry. 

Education Ministry: Education Ministry includes responsibility for Church School, Bible studies, and all other areas of teaching ministry.  This would include teaching on Wednesday mornings and evenings, Sunday evenings, and seasonal studies. In addition, this person will work with Sunday School leaders to select and order material for classes. Also, the ideal candidate will coordinate with the Children and Youth Ministers to implement a discipleship strategy in those areas of ministry that is consistent with the overall program developed for Porterfield.  

Requirements: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a ministry-related field. A Seminary education is preferred. The person who fills this position must also have an understanding of Wesleyan theology and of the doctrine of the United Methodist Church, and be in agreement with both.  A background in the United Methodist Church is preferred. 

This position is a full-time position. The person who fills this position will report to the Senior Pastor, but must be able to work effectively in a ministry team.  Weekly staff meetings and monthly planning meetings are required, as is attendance in Church Council meetings and all other meetings as would be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the Director of Congregational Care and Education position and this ministry.

Perdido Bay United Methodist Church is seeking a Church Administrator.  This individual will be responsible for assisting in the planning and development of the Perdido Bay United Methodist Church and Community Center operating budget, programming, human resource management, administrative support, marketing, and overall physical plant operations, while building project objectives, and driving structure among the team.  The incumbent will deliver solutions while leading team members to drive growth and strengthen the mission of the Community Center by creating a new and expanded business plan with improved fiscal outcomes for the church. 

Desired Outcomes:

  • Provide respective program leadership and recommendations to the Church’s senior leadership, lay leadership and staff.

Liberty Crossings United Methodist Church is looking for a part time Administrative Director.  This job will provide management of church operations, facilities, planning, finance and HR for a rapidly growing United Methodist church in a suburb of Birmingham, AL.  Management and finance experience are required. Endorsement and support of United Methodist doctrine is required.  Theological training a plus but not reqired. Worship attendance is just over 400 weekly.  This job will require 25-30 hours a week and will be compensated on a salary basis.
